the Future has funded the RCN Clinical Leadership Programme
to December 2004, investing over £300,000. To date some
1000 clinical leaders have been trained through a number of
development routes. Currently a leadership development framework
for use across the whole of NHSScotland's workforce is being
developed. Directors of Nursing have been appointed to each
NHS Board and Special Health Board.
In addition to leadership development, £1.75 million
of additional monies was made available to support Continuing
Personal Development (CPD) programmes for nurses and midwives.
This element of funding was additional to that already set
aside for such purposes by NHS employers and was distributed
across all NHS Employers in Scotland.
