Interim recommendations on new roles arising from the
work of the Nursing and Midwifery Practice Development Unit
(NMPDU) and the Nursing Research Initiative for Scotland
(NRIS) will be reviewed by Directors of Nursing and, if
appropriate, implemented into the service by September 2002.
Pilots for non-traditional roles will be promoted across
all care settings, with an expectation that the Remote and
Rural Areas Resource Initiative (RARARI) will bring forward
specific initiatives for rural areas in early 2002.
