Our National Health established the development
of high quality nurses and midwives as pivotal to the
delivery of the Scottish Executive's Plan for NHSScotland.
In November 2001, a convention of stakeholders aimed
to find solutions to the problems facing nursing and
midwifery. They focused on the problems that exist now
and those that will present themselves in the future.
The Facing the Future report summarises the work of
the convention and presents an action plan that the
Scottish Executive is committed to working on, together
with key stakeholders, to ensure that the career development
opportunities for nurses and midwives are fostered and
expanded within Scotland.
This site aims to keep nurses, midwives and health
visitors across Scotland informed of progress that has
been made in the eight key themes of the Facing the
Future action plan.
