Immediate: ondansetron maximum single intravenous dose now restricted to 16mg to reduce the risk of qt interval prolongation and cardiac arrhythmias

Description:
The new maximum single intravenous dose of ondansetron for the management of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in adults is 16 mg (infused over at least 15 minutes). This restriction is in response to concerns raised by the results of a new study which demonstrated a dose-dependent prolongation of the electrocardiographic-corrected QT interval (QTc).
