CSO has established Portfolios in each of the above areas under the umbrella of NHS Priorities and Needs.

Other Important Areas:

ageing and quality of life
child health
primary care
obesity and ill health, diabetes, asthma
infection e.g. resistant microorganisms, "environmental" infections, emerging pathogens
clinical application of biomedical technology

CSO also supports other quality research which directly relates to the health of the Scottish nation (see research funding of new projects 2008-2009).
