ACCESS TO PRIMARY CARE SERVICES

The aim is to ensure quick and convenient access to primary medical services, on the basis of clinical need.

The Scottish Government is committed to ensuring that anyone contacting their GP surgery has guaranteed access to a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional within 48 hours.

Changes have been made to the requirements of the 48 hour access guarantee from 1st April 2008 when the guarantee is included in the Scottish Patient Experience Surveys - GP Access Survey.
